New Ministerial Advisor on Adoption appointed

Martin Neary (ex CEO of Barnardo's) to be appointed in the new positon of Ministerial Adviser on Adoption

Due to The Times recently launched campaign for further reforms of the adoption
system, and the comprehensive review of the adoption system by Martin Neary, the goverment is to appoint him as Ministerial Adviser on Adoption.

He will have two main functions:

1. To recommend how adoption processes and mechanisms can be improved, and
to identify where the work of the courts and the work of local authorities
is duplicated, and

2. to make sure that social workers who are sceptical about adoption as an
option for more children in care are changing their ways.
