Temporary suspension of adoptions from India

Due to revising its present inter-country adoption guidelines, India is not taking any new applications.

4 July 2011

The Department for Education has received notification from the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), the Central Authority for adoption in India, that it is currently in the  process of revising its inter-country adoption guidelines.  During this period neither CARA nor the Recognised Indian Placement Agencies (RIPA) will accept adoption applications.  The suspension will be until 30/09/11 or until advised further by CARA.
